Alcove Cafe & Bakery, Los Angeles
After our 15.5 mile trail run at Griffith Park this past weekend, we all joined up together at this little cafe, Alcove.

The cafe itself is actually pretty small, but it hosts a lot of outdoor seating in their terrace and outdoor patio. It was a little hard trying to find a spot for our big group, but with some tactics and skills of leaving our personal items everywhere, we were able to secure tables together
Inside while you placed your order, Alcove shows off it’s delicate cakes and mouth watering desserts. We were so tempted by all the sweets since we were about to chew our arms off, but we held back and managed to purchase some $6 chocolate bars! Is that crazy or what? You know something is expensive when they don’t list the price. In my defense, it was a piece of dark chocolate with sea salt….

I ordered the Omelette with grilled zucchini, mushroom and feta with oven roasted rosemary potatoes and toast. Except you know me, I made a bunch of substitutions like egg whites and fruit instead of potatoes. I hate how restaurants charge you so much extra to do these simple swaps. I guess I understand that fruit is more expensive than potatoes and you have to use more eggs for egg whites, but this entire breakfast, plus a chocolate bar was almost $25! I wasn’t even planning on eating this much because I had to go to lunch right after this meal. Yeah, well that’s L.A for you. Any trendy place will charge you more just for the atmosphere and location. Also one of the guys in our group said that we should just tell them next time that we want to order the omelette, without the yolk. No, not egg whites, but the egg without the yolk. Think people would go for it?
Nevertheless, this meal went down way too fast, but it was delicious. Really anything tastes good after spending the entire morning trekking up a mountain and drinking out of horse troughs…

Another omelette dish with sauteed spinach and cheese melted on top

huevos rancheros -three crispy tortillas topped with black beans, three fried eggs, fresh salsa, avocado and sour cream with rancheros sauce and oven roasted rosemary potatoes
This sounded so decadent, must try next time.

This was an omelette with every kind of meat possible stuffed inside. Hey, we just ran the entire morning! Protein is good.

Happy group
