Homemade Turkey Bugers

May 11, 2010

Here’s a delicious homemade version of turkey burgers, perfect for grilling up in your backyard or in your kitchen to kick of the start of summer. This is actually the same recipe I use for my turkey meatballs and with such few ingredients and bold flavors, this recipe is so simple to make. The burgers are super moist and juicy. Top the burgers off with some prosciutto or provolone cheese, but I feel these burgers are flavorful enough that they don’t need the extras 🙂 To make the meatballs, combine all the ingredients and form into 1 inch thick meatballs. Drop into homemade tomato sauce and let simmer for 30 minutes until cooked through.

Homemade Turkey Burgers

Serves 2

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup scallions
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce, onions, tomato, mustard aioli

1. Mix ground turkey, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, oregano, scallions, salt and pepper together in a mixing bowl.

2. Heat grill or saute pan to medium-high heat and spray with cooking spray

3. Form turkey mixture into 4 patties and press down to flatten out

4. Grill 4 minutes on each side, flip and cook until done.

5. To assemble burger: spread mustard aioli on bun, top with lettuce, tomato, onion and turkey patty.

Tip: When cooking in a saute pan, make sure to add some water to the pan every minute so the burgers don’t burn. I add a little liquid and put the lid on the pan to let them steam, then flip and add a little more water.
