Easy homemade Apple Tart

March 17, 2011

Here’s a super simple dessert to bring to any party. I love the presentation of this dish and you can just cut it into bite size pieces at the party. This was actually my first time working with puff pastry and I can’t believe how easy and quick it was to make this dessert! Substitute the apples for any kind of stone fruit (plum, apricots, pears). Not sure if berries would work too well because the juices might soak through the crust, which is the best part of this dish. The flaky buttery crust just melts in your mouth with the tartness of the apples.

Easy homemade Apple Tart

  • 8 apples, sliced thin, halved
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 whole sheet of puffed pastry, cut in half (bought this at Whole Foods in the frozen section)
  • 1 lemon

1. Pre-heat oven to 415 degrees

2. Peel and core apples and cut into thin slices. Toss the apples with brown sugar, lemon and a pinch of salt.

3. Roll out the pastry sheet and cut down the scored line. Line up the apple slices in the middle of the sheet, leaving room on all sides of the puff pastry to rise.

4. Bake for 18-20 minutes until crust is flaky and golden brown.
