**Giveaway at the end of this post!!**
Everyone loves a good steak. I know I crave red meat after a long run or hard workout. There is nothing more satisfying and enjoyable than a dinner out with friends chatting the night away over cocktails and steak. Notorious for their unhealthy options and fatty sides, steak houses have gotten the reputation for being a dieter’s nightmare. Dousing your steak in sauce or choosing the butter laden mashed potatoes isn’t exactly waist-line friendly. I was invited by Carina of Ink Foundry to find a way to dine at Fleming’s Steakhouse under a caloric budget. I took my friend, Meg, to join me on this girl date as we made our way through the menu. I was surprised at all the different appetizer and side options you could choose from. We started off with one of their new signiture cocktails, Tickled Pink. Clocking in at 99 calories, this drink was the perfect way to start off the night. It was sweet, but not overly sweet, from the sugar-free raspberry preserve. I even have the recipe for you! I could have easily downed a couple of these cocktails, and at 99 calories a pop, it’s definitely figure friendly.
Tickled Pink
Fleming’s 99-calorie cocktail.
1 oz. Belvedere Vodka
1 oz. sugar-free raspberry preserve
1 orange wedge squeezed and dropped into shaker
Shake on ice
Pour 1-1/2 oz. of Mionetto Prosecco in martini glass
Pour contents of shaker into martini glass with Prosecco
Garnish with 2 fresh raspberries on a bar pick
We ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes with roasted red pepper and lime butter sauce as a starter. We figured since we ran so much in the morning, we deserved this one indulgence. The crab cakes were super light and chunks full of crab meat. I loved how the sauce was on the bottom of the cakes as opposed on top because it allowed us to take a little taste of the sauce without overdoing it. A skinny tip: ask for the sauce on the side and dip the cakes in it. This way it allows you to control how much sauce is on your crab cake.
As an entree, we split the
Peppercorn Steak served with “F17” steak sauce, a proprietary blend of 17 ingredients including molasses, honey, orange juice and chipotle peppers.
I actually had this the last time I was here and the F17 sauce won me over. I had to go back for more. I actually suggested to the waitress that they should bottle this sauce, it’s so addicting and serves as the perfect complement to the peppery steak. Since we split this steak, Meg and I each had our own petite portion of this massive steak. Splitting an entree is the best way to enjoy more variety at restaurants without overindulging.
Fleming’s also offers the Petite Filet Mignon which is the perfect portion for one.
As for sides, we bypassed the potatoes and stuck with their vegetable sides. We choose
SAUTÉED FRENCH GREEN BEANS
shiitake mushrooms, porcini essence
SAUTÉED MUSHROOMS
fresh button and portobello sautéed in butter with whole garlic
and asked for both sides without butter. The waitress was more than accommodating to our request and we didn’t miss the butter at all! Instead we were presented with two vibrant platters of vegetables, perfect for sharing and enjoying with the steak. They also had the ROASTED BABY CARROTS tossed with golden raisins and toasted California Mission almonds as a side, but since I had it before the last time I was here, we decided to try something new
And you can’t complete a meal at Fleming’s without getting their CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE -rich chocolate cake with a molten chocolate center, served with vanilla ice cream and chopped pistachios. A healthier alternative would be their Fresh Berries & Chantilly Cream. Both sounded equally as good, but this girl loves her chocolate. We split this massive chocolate dessert and all I wanted was a couple tastes, we barely made a dent in the dessert! The perfect ending to a fabulous meal.

I’d partake of the barbecue scottish salmon fillet with a nice Hef on the side to wash it down!
My first priorities would be a petite filet and a glass of red wine.
However, after looking at the bar menu, it’s amazing what kind of damage this gal could do, especially with a partner in crime.
I would absolutely have to do the Carpaccio, ravioli, and tuna.
But realy, if I was to be going to Flemmings, I’d really want a filet.
I love that y’all got the green beens and split your steak.
If I was to dine with someone, I’d make sure one of us got steak and the other crab legs and then we’d have to fight till the death for both : )
you won one of the giftcards! I’ll send out the card to your address
YIPPEEE! : )
I’d go with Roasted mushroom Ravioli followed by the Peppercorn Steak.
I’m easy to please…I’d have the prime bone-in ribeye with a yummy oversized baked potato!
OK so here goes:
1) Well I can never pass up on a burger, especially if bacon is involved, so I would order the Fleming’s Prime Burger.
2) For my side dish, I would go with the Chipotle Cheddar Mac N Cheese.
3) Finally, I’d finish it all off with the Walnut Turtle Pie.
Throughout all of the above, I will likely get thirsty so I’d take advantage of the 2 for $6 Guinness Draught.
How could I resist that peppercorn steak?!
I gave up meat for Lent. I’ve been craving a burger for a while, so I’d probably go for their prime burger. I like steak too, but I’m too lazy to cut it.
I tweeted this too. Or am about to.

Yum. To start, the Ahi tuna appetizer, maybe the Wedge, and the mac and cheese. After your pics, I’d have to go with that peppercorn steak and lava cake. Then roll me out of there.
I’ve never been to Fleming’s but I’d get the lobster and that lava cake! Yum!
The ALASKAN ROCK PETRALE SOLE piques my curiosity!! Yum!
mmm those green beans look delicious! 🙂
Ooh definitely the lobster! Love seafood at a steak house.
I do not even know the way I finished up here, but I assumed this put up was great.
