Manhattan Beach Post (M.B Post)

April 5, 2012

Manhattan Beach Post has been on my list of restaurant to try for some time now ever since it opened a year ago in the South Bay. This restaurant is the newest culinary creation from Michelin-starred chef David LeFevre. The building, which once housed the Manhattan Beach Post Office, is filled with a rustic ambiance and charm. From the communal table situated in the center of the room, the open kitchen behind glass windows, railroad tie-lined ceiling, this space is truly unique in it’s own way. I’m so glad to have this restaurant close to home, as I will definitely be making this a staple spot.

Tip: Make a reservation if you are uncomfortable sitting at a communal table. The only reservation left on a Saturday night was for 5:45, which we obviously couldn’t make so we were seated at one of the two large communal tables in between two big parties. Sitting next to strangers doesn’t really bother me, but it was a pretty tight squeeze and I almost kicked the girl next to me trying to get in.

  • Check out the brunch menu as well. Truffle Honey Laced Fried Chicken? Yes, please.
  • All plates are small and meant to be shared. Recommend 2-3 plates/person.
  • This place is not cheap, but the food is well worth it. We spent around $50/person for all this food between the two of us and could have easily ordered a couple more of those tasty cocktails ($12/each)

MO-PHO-JITO-mojito w/ starr, kaffir lime, mint, ginger, coriander honey

MEYERS FARM ‘NEVER EVER’ SKIRT STEAK, grilled broccolini, red chimichurri

¡ALBONDIGAS!, garnet yam puree, shishito peppers, maple-miso glaze

SPICED APPLE HAND PIES, salted caramel sauce

Thai Iced Tea Soft Serve, Sesame Coconut Macarons, Mint
